why dont the Orange book liberals join the tory party instead of causing splits

and heartache for their party? It seems like Clegg,David Laws , etc are basically tory with a soft edge.Wouldn't it be more honourable and honest for them to own this fact and leave the lib dems and join the torys rather than try to take their whole party with them by pretending the whole party has so much in common and could partner up again after 2015 as Clegg hinted in an interview on marr show yesterday.The should own it rather than try to remould the party to this effect just to make a virtual merger possible
