why dont the goverment put the army on the streets?

there so much crime going on why dont they set up check point and have soldiers walking up and down the street, i know if i was out mugging people and there was an army check point with in a mile or 2 away i think that would make me think twice,
 
The only time the military should be walking the streets of any American city is in a parade or an overwhelming disaster and then only to help keep order when ask by the governor of the state.*
 
While sometimes we think this may be a good solution to normal crime, It would cost taxpayers (you) insane amounts of money.

Become a police officer or bounty hunter & that's about the best you can do to keep your neighborhood safe.
