Why don't people talk to each other more about climate change/peak oil?

If you admit that it's happening then you have a responsibility to act. If you don't act and know it's happening then anything that goes wrong is partly your fault. Why take blame when you can just blame someone else???
Do you know how to grow your own food? Can you catch and clean a fish or rabbit? Do you know how to purify water? Can you survive without a tv? You'll probably survive, and maybe prosper.
 
Because people don't believe in global warming, they think automatically your a tree hugger and what not if you notice there is a problem with earth. It's like that with everything there could be a serious problem right in front of our faces and people will think it is nothing to worry about. Look at AIDs and cancer no one worries about that or tries to find a cure. It's very possible that there could be a huge devistation to the human population people just think we are the biggest and best species out there because of our brain capacity.
 
I fear the apocalypse because I feel it is imminent even though I consider myself a pretty (IQ 126) intelligent person. With climate change and the depletion of natural resources I just cannot understand how we will be ok. I feel so pessemistic, yet at the same time I know that I am being realistic. I am baffled at how difficult it is to speak with other people about this, they either don't know a lot and dully agree, or think I'm being hysterical. I feel really hopeless. I am 22.
actually I'm a female. true i'm weird, but nothing is wrong with me, just different. I don't believe in The Apocalypse, but I do believe that we are heading for a collapse of civilization. There will be many survivors, but a substantial portion of the world's population will shrink.

You are being hysterical and there are people out there actively trying to make you that way. I am sure they feel a great sense of satisfaction that you are hopeless. The good news is that there really isn't anything to worry about except encroaching socialism and loss of freedoms. I would rank global warming as very low in my worry list. As for peak oil, it is also extremely exaggerated. We have a problem with a willingness to explore for energy. There are plenty of reserves of coal, gas, petroleum and now methane hydrates. It is a politically caused peak oil. The actual peak would probably not be reached for hundreds of years in my opinion. We should look for better alternatives but in the meantime there is no desperation needed. The bad news is you probably don't believe a word I say.
