why don't my burned cd's play on car cd changer?

can anyone help me i have a few music cd's that i burned on my laptop, and i have always played them in my car but now i bought a new car that has a cd changer, all the burned cd's are not recognised for some reason. is there a different file system i need to use or could it be that the changer does not play any burned cd?
please also if you know any software that i can use to burn the music
 
Have you burned them as a music cd or a data cd.

The car i have atm is fitted with an old cd player,the car i had before had a divx player fitted,but as said when i insert my old disc in this player i just get error. But when i re burned some as a music cd they now play fine.
