Why Don't Disney Make Cartoons Anymore?

Erm. They still do 2D animations:

out next year.

Its there first for a while, I'll give you that... but they still are doing them.
But yes, primarily a cost for return issue compared to 3D animation. That and, well, just look at the takes on the 3D films of the 90s compred to the 2D ones. There is a slight cultural issue too.

Rapunzel is a CGI animation which will look 2D as they are rendering it to look like a canvas oil painting.

Why not be diverse?

Which is very, VERY unfortunate. Personally, I can't stand CGI. I consider it very ugly. You just cannot beat the look of proper hand drawn animation. CGI just doesn't come close. 2D CGI is almost as bad as 3D CGI, that looks totally flat and lifeless.

You're so right about Tom & Jerry. The ones with the dog, like the fishing one, and the one with Tom's rival, the black cat, where they play Tennis, are incredilble as well as the ones you've mentioned. Didn't the two you mentioned win Oscars?

Back on topic, though, Disney shouldn't make sequels. Lion King II was balls, and I haven't bothered to watch Lion King III. It'll be longer than the Land Before Time Series soon.
