..... Seems most of them are unaware, or are aware but won't acknowledge..... the stimulus money is essentially a bailout for the states, to fill their own budget deficits....so that the states don't have to fire state employees and cut programs/projects....
The stimulus is more about the overspending of State leadership, rather than the FED.
The stimulus doesn't dictate that Alaska must build new airports, or that FL/Texas have to build high speed railways..... those projects were in those states deficit ridden budgets, long before the stimulus was even talked about. The tri-rail system proposed in FL, was voted on in 2006.... only the state didn't have any money to actually do it....UNTIL NOW.
Example....with regard to the stimulus...
Compare the statements of a Republican Governor, ..., who is responsible for job creation and budgets/spending in a state...and the statements of Congressional Representatives of that same state...whose only responsibility is to vote in line with the emotions of the public.
The Governor's KNOW they need the money to save jobs.... they KNOW that they will lose re-election if they don't take the money, and use it to save jobs and invest in their economies.
The white house/Obama, aren't the ones responsible for reporting how money was spent or how many jobs created/saved.... the states are responsible for all the spending, accountability, and reporting.
