where he says that concious thought is an illusion created/evolved by memes in order to cause people to protect themselves and therefore protect the memes.
well i like that section, and no i dont have a citation, i read the whole book, if you havent already you should, its awesome.
sly phy, thats what i reckon, they are protective of their free will LOL just as dawkins predicted.

i dont have any problem with this statemnt at all, and it probably is mostly true, i just doubt that this is all the mind is. ideas come from some place originally, and the original cant be a meme.

I wasn't aware that

1.) atheists share some sort of hive-mind that makes them all think alike, and

2.) Didn't like that particular section.

I don't dislike this part of Dawkins book, which book is this?

Infact... I whole heartedly agree with this statement.

Please don't make a sweeping statement...

You do now that someone can be wrong at times...Even Steven Hawking's is wrong sometimes...

I don't have a problem with this.

Some people I guess get a little protective over their 'free will'

We could start with you showing where he wrote that. Then we could work with the fact that "memes" are pseudo-science. After that, we can go into the very sound epistemological grounds for thinking consciousness is not explainable in material terms.

It's pretty neat how you can read my mind and tell me how I feel about stuff.

Actually I don't feel one way or the other about that; but on the other hand most of his theories on the mind were largely speculative.
