...form a new union for new media? Back in the 1920s, SAG was created due to unfair labor conditions of film sets, and I believe the Actors Equity Association was born just a few years earlier. We are now at a turning point where we, as actors, are again getting shafted by the studios and networks, and SAG and AFTRA both are ineffectively dealing with the problem. Why can't we actors form a new professional union to work alongside SAG and AFTRA specifically to deal with the issues inherent in New Media that the aforementioned unions are ill-equipped to deal with?
