Why doesn't the German army use panzer IV tanks anymore?

It WAS a good war machine... in 1941. Today it would be nothing more than a mildly amusing target, totally obsolete in every imaginable way. On a modern battlefield a tank employing WWII technology would be almost completely ineffective.

It wouldn't be able to compete with modern tanks, such as the M1 Abrams. The M1 has a 105mm maingun, while the Panzer had an 88mm or less.
