Why doesn't the German army use panzer IV tanks anymore?

In short it would be no good in modern warfare.

Germany's current battle tank in service is the Leopard 2 Main Battle Tank

Crew 2
Weight 62 metric tonnes
Length 7.7m
Width 3.7m
Height 3m
Maximum Speed 72km/hr
Maximum Range 500km

Compared to the Panzer IV

Weight 25.0 tonnes (27.6 short tons)
Length 7.02 m (23.0 ft)
Width 2.88 m (9.4 ft)
Height 2.68 m (8.8 ft)
Crew 5 (commander, gunner, loader, driver, rad. op./bow machine-gunner)
Operational range 200 km (120 mi)
Speed 42 km/h (26 mph) road, 16 km/h (9.9 mph) off road

Basically better technology is avalible to the German Government.

It WAS a good war machine... in 1941. Today it would be nothing more than a mildly amusing target, totally obsolete in every imaginable way. On a modern battlefield a tank employing WWII technology would be almost completely ineffective.
