front-facing vents? Hello. I recently bought a Ford Ranger 2002 model. The air conditioner works and is plenty cool, but it only blows out of the top dashboard vents and the bottom dashboard vents. It does not blow out of the front-facing vents like it's supposed to. Someone mentioned that a spring or fastener might have popped off of the flapper and that the flapper could be resting against the vent, not allowing any flow through it. However, I called the local Ford dealership, and they told that the 2002 Ford Ranger doesn't have a flapper, it instead, has only vaccuum lines. Can you help me?

i had the same problem with my f150, fords are known for it. replace the switch that controls where the air goes to. And im not sure but the ford dealership has to be wrong, that flapper is a door that channels where the air goes to... How could vaccum lines do that? i dunno.

The Ford dealership is correct. I had the same issue on my 93 Ford Mustang and deal with this issue with a lot of customer's cars. There is a vaccum line that runs along the top of the firewall inside the engine bay that is broken. Replace it and that will take care of your problem.
