Why doesn't my Nintendo ds lite detect my Verizon Modem?

i've surfed the web and i found nothing. when i turned on my printer it detected it but it had a grey unlock symbol. have any suggestion. how to connect to wifi with my verizon modem?
 
Some router types are just not compatable with certain kinds of wifi networking cards, such as the one in your DS lite. For instance, my mother's laptop would not connect to any kind of router untill I payed for a router from the service provider. So maybe its just time for a new router.
