Why does your family try to mold you in certain careers or they try to get you to go to college? Even though?

your miserable in college or the career they tried to get you to pursue. I get to were I am mad and angry kinda in a rage at them for doing this. How do I deal with this? All I can hear out of them is Oh look how much that career pays I should have done nursing or social work. I don't want some panzy ass job that I set around or "care for people". How do I keep from being angry at them? All I want to do is leave and never return.

change your major to something you want. Move out of home, pay for your own way and then they have no right to tell u anything.

Well, my family tried to do the same to me as well. I was just like you...MAD! All they talked about was nursing nursing medical field and so on. So when my friends went away to college i stayed here inVA where the medical college's are when i wanted to go away for an experience. I started studying nursing and got a job in a hospital and when i got that job my whole view changed! I actually really liked workiong in a hospital! But B4 all that i had a screaming match with my family...that didnt help. I would try talking to them and saying exactly how you feel like, "you all are picking my road and im unhappy with these decisions are taking me this is not something i want to do the rest of my life and im sick of you pressuring me." they should respect you enough to let you make your own decisions. Though i think they really are doing it because they want the best for you eventhough they are ignoring what you want. Try shadowing the profession 1st and if you really dont want to do it then just say no. But, also for your own information there is a lot you can do with a degree in nursing. I have a friend who sits at a desk all day and deals with insurance and in home medical equipment and makes the same thing a RN does who cares for patients. I would look into other possibilities with your degree b4 giving up...but try to talk to your family and MAKE them understand you want to do what YOU want its YOUR life.Haha...been in your shoes b4...thats why this was so long...SORRY!

They are trying to mold you and encourage you to go to college so you do have a direction. They just don't want to see you fail. If you don't want to get into medicine find something that will pay as good or better and tell them about it. I bet they will be okay with it as long as you stick to your decision. Do your research on it first, though. That way you have information to make your point to them.

Because they want you to be successful and are aware that without some college, you're not likely to have much shot at any job that pays well.

I totally understand my grandma got me to go to a community college right after highschool, to get my CNA ( certified nurse assistant ) if you dont know what a CNA is well its someone that works at a retirement home or nursing home helping to care for the elder.
