Why does the US want to control what weapons others have?

I'm speaking of nuclear weapons in this case. Let me ask you a question. If I have bombs, don't you think that you're entitled to have bombs to fight me back with if we ever get into a fight/war? What does the US think it is? GOD?!
 
Because we can. Do you really want the entire world to be flooded with nukes? Have you forgotten about the nuclear non-proliferation treaty that almost all nations have signed?
 
So, you would want your enemies to have weapons they can use against you?

I think everybody is hoping to avoid a nuclear war.
The less people who have them, the less danger we're all in.
