Why does the media give Limbaugh, Cheney, Gingrich, and Rove more press than...

...currently elected GOP officials? it's not like the GOP doesn't have senators, governors, congressmen on the sunday morning talk shows or that they are refusing to go on those shows and the media is being forced to follow limbaugh, cheney, gingrich, etc.

The media is afraid of what kind of ratings those with the actual power to affect policy will bring in. Those guys get good ratings, the left is already finished at FIVE MONTHS into their guy's Presidency, and the liberal members of the media damn well know it.

The honeymoon's over. America lost; get over it.

They are not elected and they shoot from the hip. The media ignores the GOP even when in office. and they are making the above mentioned the leaders.

Ask any average person who is the leader of the GOP of the senate. They will not know.

The media is pathetic.

Where is Obama's coverage telling us what he plans on doing with North Korea, that coward is going to get Americans killed.

THEY ARE LAUGHING AT YOU OBAMA, THEY ARE LAUGHING AT YOU!!!!

The media, being pro-Obama by large, will always laud their sun-gods and make fun of the opposition's clowns (I'm referring to Limbaugh not Cheney or Gingrich). As far as the others, well Cheney's hated and so is Rove.

1. Limbaugh: leader of the GOP with 20 million listeners; most powerful voice in the party
2. Cheney:. VP from past administration who has put himself out there as one of the only voice defending the past administration
3. Gingrich: Used to be the leader of the GOP and engineered the GOP takeover of the Congress.
4. Rove: As a Fox News commentator he is very visible and is perhaps the most fascinating figure from the past administration.

These people all have much higher name recognition than 99% of elected Republican officials.

Since they are not in office, they can say whatever they want while Republicans currently in office must temper their comments - and we all know how the media loves sensationalism.

Plus, with the exception of Rove, these people are the intellectual leaders of the Republican party. Why have some congressperson on when he takes all his cues from the aforementioned figures? Might as well have the primary source.

This is not some big conspiracy.

They are more entertaining. They are louder, and more well known generally and people are eatiing this stuff up. Whether you are one of the majority that doesn't really approve of them, you still listen to them when you see it reported or catch them in passing. Or maybe one of the people that agree with them and so can't get enough - it's all in the ratings. People like Gen. Colin Powell and moderate conservative governors like Pawlenty (that guy is the Republican's best bet for nomination in 2012 and they don't even realize it) are practically desperate to bring the GOP into the 21st century and attract the demographics they have to have to win. But it's like the neocons still have the party by the throat and refuse to acknowledge they are the reason that the party is losing critical people like Independents and moderates in general. It's so entertaining to react to those guys, and to satisfy Palin's need for constant publicity that the media just keeps feeding it to us day in and day out. I remember a meeting recently where high ranking Republican members of Congress got together to try and hammer out a new direction for the GOP. They barely got a mention - and there sure wasn't anyone here in YA discussing it.

The media is very powerful, but another way to look at it is to note that they give the people what the people want. When they don't, they lose viewers and listeners and that's not the name of the game in that industry.

Real America LOVES Limbaugh, Cheney, Gingrich and Rove! They make great guests. Just wish they'd bring up )o( s lack of historical documentation.

See: Today's meet the press. None of them were featured, but two, moderate Republicans.

Those two Republicans believe the party to be in an 'ice age' that cannot win an election until they change their stance on social issues and stop their far right hate fest against minorities. Mention that at ANY time in this forum, and 99.9% of the Republicans in here will say 'We don't need to change anything. We need to be more conservative, not less. We need to adhere to our moral values, not become more like liberals'.
Obviously, if the majority of Republicans wanted new leadership, they would be outraged by what Limbaugh, Cheney and Newt are saying....but they aren't.....instead, they are outraged by what moderate conservatives are saying.
