better/worse...mostly different

pistons go up/down..putting strain ever time they stop at top/bottom..the valtrane is complicated...expensive,,engine is heavier

rotary was to solve those problems..but.different problems cropped up...seals "rings" wore out,,engine sucked more oil and gas

The rotary engine feels smoother and goes much faster for its size. Also it has a whopping 9,000 RPM redline! I ended up with a 3 because I had to be sensible but boy did I have a blast test driving the RX-8 at the dealer! The salesman wasn't too happy that I hit the rev limiter of 9,400 though.

Disadvantages are that it burns a lot of fuel, it burns engine oil as a regular part of its process. If you neglect to take care of the engine, it WILL cause you a load of troubles. All the people I know who own old RX-7s are auto mechanics. Everyone else who owns cars that old are driving Hondas and Toyotas with standard piston engines.

A friend of mine was looking into buying this car and wanted to know whether or not the rotary engine made it better if it is better
