Why does "the loner" image have an appeal?....?

I'm naturally a loner by nature, and it isn't a very nice way to be. I can't communicate my feelings with people, I can't read body language other than "smiling = happy, frowning = upset, etc) I naturally don't make conversations with people, and if people make a joke, I'll add to it, and then go quiet, this also happens in normal conversations - the quietness.

I can't build bonds with people, relationships or friendships.

So then, why does it have such an appeal?...

I'm not saying I want to change, I'm comfortable with who I am, and I enjoy being alone and doing my own thing, but that's because my nature leans towards that. However, it causes frustration and anger when I see a girl I like, and I can't do anything about it.
