Okay so Im writing up some science H/W and I need to know why the length of string on a pendulum would affect the period of its swing.
Im guessing that the more string there is, the more wind resistance acts upon it, and slows down the pendulum.
am I right?

In SHM, note that
a = rα
v = rω etc.

Gravity will provide a constant a and v to the pendulum, so to make the equations remain true as r (radius) increase, ω and α have to decrease

Note that this all is a crude assumption for pendulums and does not work for large angles/amplitudeÂ*
