My daughter send in some poetry into a company that said they were doing a contest. She had to pay (around $100.00) for everything before they would publish her poem in a book. Then she had to buy her own poem ($59.00 for the book, not including shipping and handling) before she could get a copy of it. They said she made third place, then she had to buy the trophy ($200.00 for trophy, not including shipping and handling) before they would send it to her. She was out about $500.00 including shipping and handling, Insurance, etc., and then it took her about three months before she received her book and trophy. At the time she didn't know this was a scam. Why is the gov. letting this happen?
Why does the gov. let poetry and writing companies that scam people stay in business?
