Why does the age of my GameBoy cause it to NOT work? ?

I have a 1989 Gameboy - just because it has not been played in so many years, WHAT CAUSES the age to make it NOT work...like.. just because it has sat, and is in good condition, why would it not work? I just would like a precise answer...haha because I would love to know if there would be ANY way to fix it?

Any Ideas?
 
dude u dont need it anymore get with the times..
if u have a pc u can play ur games on the pc..

heres how:

download winrar search it on google

download this gba emulator for pc..

download the roms (Games) from here:
http://www.emuparadise.org/roms/#
click on gba roms and a game to download

extract all files

click on gba emulator
then file then open then click the the game file..done
