why does poker have such unbelievable swings in momentum?

I stopped those online poker games, when my four 10s were beaten by four Qs. I found if I was winning, it was always followed by a bad run. Just dont trust those online poker rooms anymore. And there are lots like me.

And then the *blah, blah, blah* came. And then I had *blah, blah* and the guy called with *blah, blah* and he hit runner, runner *BLAH, BLAH*!!!!

It's the same story over and over again. You are ALMOST no different from all the other losing poker players that post these same stories.

The only SLIGHT difference is that you are not down any cash you tell us. That's actually GREAT! If you are a break-even player, then you are doing WAY better than most people! I'd even like to suggest that with a little more work on your game, you could potentially be a profitable player.

Profitable players have bad beats, too. They just know how to limit the number of bad situations they put themselves in.

Again - you're not as in bad shape as most people whining and complaining on this site. Just step back and think about all aspects of your game. Maybe you've got to tighten up your game, or maybe you've got to tighten up your Bankroll Management. Maybe it's something else. Just don't resort to whining like the endless supply of losing players we hear from.

i am up some 1000k cash money on pokerstars, but it seems lately no matter what i do i am getting the door kicked in on my game. i have never been down cash on an online site but it seems lately everysingle hand im involved in seems i have been hit by the ugly bad luck stick over and over. for instance the last 8 tn in a row i have been knocked out by a miracle. i have seen miracles happen alot but all of a sudden its happening at an unreal pace.. for instance. last game heads up. dude reraises me three times with blinds at 50 and 100 and and we both have around 3.5k. i have aces. i put him all in when he raised to 900k. he insta calls and shows q9 suited.. ends up making a straight.. ok this happens.. but everytime for 8-9 tourneys in a row... everytime all in leading only to get railed...what in freakin world of bejesus is going on?? its as if someone has absolutely switched on the fabled doom switch and no matter what i do im doomed.. is this normal?? i have not seen a streak like this to date.
keep in mind these are 9 to 27 pp tourneys. i usually place in around 3 to 4 out of ten. why such a downswing. why does it seem im marked for doom all of a sudden?
some might say its because i recently cashed out some of my winnings. seems to have started as soon as i did that. certainly there is no truth to the cash out curse.
i love what the last guy said. except i wouldnt change a thing of how i played. i wonder just how often should i expect what i would call a massive downswing.
