Why does no one on here know anything about car audio? Let this be your guide.?

1st off. And I know others are sick of repeating this. Never go by your subwoofers Peak rating. RMS is what is important.

2ndly. It takes power to make power. If your trying to run 400 watts or more to your accessories. You will end your alternators life early.

What do I mean by this? Well I will give you an example.

I have an Exile Audio X5 amplifier. It has dual power/ground inputs. The amp does 5500 watts @ 1 ohm RMS.

So I had to add a 380amp alternator, an XS power D3400 in the front, and 2 XP 3000s in the rear.

I have 2 sundown z.3 12s. I know from seeing other builds that these subs can take 1500-2500 watts. But they are only warrantied @ 1500.

If you try to run more than the RMS to a cheap subwoofer like power acoustik, boss, pyle and so on. You will end its life quickly. If you bought a good brand. Like sundown, DC, Ascendant Audio, FI, and so on. THen you are usually safe to run more than rated. Because those speakers are actually built well and are under rated.

ALso. For everyone asking. Is my amp too much power for my subs. Do some research. Power acoustik, boss, pyle, sound stream.
Almost all of those brands rate there amps @ peak power, and also they rate them @ 16volts.

A cheap product is cheap for a reason. ALso. The size of the amp matters. If you buy a power acoustik 5500 BAMF. Look how small that amp is. It is half the size of my Exile X5. Thats because the Power acoustik amp 5500 only does 2600watts RMS @ 1 ohm @ 16 volts.

Any other questions people?
