Why does my wound burn ?

I had an infected abcess that was drained . Now I have it packed . I must change this packing every day and it burns like hell to remove the packing and feels even WORSE to put it back in . I'm only 17 I cry like a baby and run everytime my mom tells me it needs to be changed its the worst pain I ever felt in my life I would appreciate if someone can tell me what to do so that it doesn't hurt or hurts a wayyy bit less I would really appreciate that
