Why does my ride "smell" like inside the primary???

It's the vent tube. When I changed my trans oil to Amsoil I got the same thing.

I eventually went back to standard HD oils and the smell went away completely.
Got tire of playing the exotic oil game. I only keep a bike for 2-5 years anyway.
Surely the HD oils are good enough for that.

It,s the frame. I changed the redline yesterday and it gets on top of the flat frame plate and the hot engine will "cook" the residue for some time. Take some paper toweling and stuff it through the plate hole on the primary side to absorb the drain off when you pull the plug. leave some in there over night but remember to pull it out the next day.

I get the stinky gear lube smell also after changing to Redline SP heavy. It's only every once in a while I can smell it but it's there none the less.

After starting this thread, it is nice to know it ain't just me.

I am now thinking this is a RedLine Shockproof Heavy "volatility" problem.

Some petroleum component is burning off (and it stinks).

Maybe we should write to the company???
