Why does my Photo Booth only record a few seconds?

I recently got a mac for the first time about 2 weeks ago. When I try recording videos, it only records the first few seconds of it. It says it is recording, but then when I press stop, the full video doesn't show up. Can anyone explain this to me?

aw man this happened to me all the time when i had a mac and im trying to rememebr why.

i think you can use imovie at the same time?
