Why does my phone randomly say "verizon wireless" out loud?

I have the env touch, and every once in a while it'll randomly say the words "verizon wireless" out loud, and I have no clue why. Its probably done it about 10 times or so, but I really don't want it to do that while I'm in class. Is there a way to disable this?
 
we have the same phone. when you open up the phone go to menu-->settings and tools-->sound settings-->then scroll down to number 7, power on/off-->there should be four choices, pick the 1st one and turn it off. then go back (CLR button) and choose the 3rd one and turn it from on to off. there you go! hope this helps :)
