Why does my laptop screen randomly get dark and flash colors?

It's a Dell inspiron mini and i've only have it for 12 days. i was using it today and the screen started flashing colors and it beeped so i turned it off and tried turning it back on and it would beep at me. i took the battery out then put it back and it turned on and was fine then like 20 minutes later it would flash colors again.it's fully charged. it happend 3 times so far today. anybody know why it's doing this?
 
Anything to do with colors is a video card issue. It's defective

I can't tell if I'm right since I'm not looking at it myself, but this is what it sounds like. Return it. That's your best bet no matter what.
