Why does my Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps dying?

I just bought it two days ago. Its a 2002 Laredo. I bought it from a private seller, who claimed that it ran perfect. I drove it all around and it seemed great. I bought it and took it home and the next day I was driving it and it just died, as I was moving! Its happened numerous times since and the check engine light came on. I've tried calling and e-mailing the seller and big surprise! NO RESPONCE! We went to shucks and they hooked it up to their computer and decided that it needed a new gas cap, well it didn't work. So here's what happens, I'm driving, sometimes I will be stopped at a light and sometimes I will have my foot on the gas. It just dies. The fan, radio, and everything else stays on. I try and restart it and it just revs. I wait about 5-10 min and it will start again. Has anyone else had this happen?

Try taking it to a dealer and have them test it.It will cost you something but they will know the answer.Could be something in the anti theft system shorting out making the Jeep think you are trying to steal it.Go to the sellers house where you bought it .if no answer try asking one of his naybors if he had ever talked about it breaking down to one of them

it may be your ignition coil or ignition control module. i had the same thing happen to me with my 87 jeep cherokee. i was doing 60 and it just died, step on the gas and it just rev-ed. i turned it off and restarted it within a few seconds. on my 360z it did the same but was the camshaft position sensor on the distributor shaft. best bet is take it to a dealer have them check it some will deduct the test price from the bill if you have them fix it but always check to make sure. good luck.
