Why does my HP Laptop built in webcam flash green?

Usually my laptop works, and I have fixed this problem before but for the life of me I cannot remember how I did it.

When ever I open the webcam, where my face would be is now a flashing screen with black/grey lines inside the green. I have no idea how to fix it, and all I want is to use my webcam.

mine too for who ever can answer this:
I have a built in hp webcam and it used to work for skype but then it started only working when i selected "webcam filter" but now it doesnt work at all....just green. is this a bug? i saw posted somewhere else that it might be a disconnected wire within my pc since it no longer works even with the regular hp webcam program where you can shoot video or capture snapshots. GREEN. mrph.
