I bought a Honda Civic Hatchback EG Automatic down in National City, The dealers told me it has been sitting for about 2 weeks so when me and my fiancee drove it off the lot to do a drive test, the motor is shaking alot even it gets worse when you are at a stop sign or a stop light I just got an oil change they checked everything and now they are telling I need a new motor. where can i go for to get a new motor for less??

take the car back and demand your money back. Tell them you will report them to the state licensing board etc. See what they say. If they stonewall you, decide about small claims court vs just eating the new engine cost. Used to be able to swap an engine out for a rebuilt for around 2k. not sure about that particular car.
Shaking at idle can mean one or more cylinders are not firing at idle speed. If the engine smooths out at higher speeds, consider replacing the spark plugs. If that cures it, great. If not, try replacing spark wires. If that fails to cure, you need professional advice. take it to a different shop, one that you are referred to by a friend or co-worker. Then see what they say and decide based on the difference in cost between fixing what you have, or selling it as is and getting a different car.

I have to agree with pedro there are alot of things that can make a engine shake anything from needing a simple tune up to motor mounts if i were you i would take it to a shop that has a good reputation for not ripping people off because if the motor just has a shimmy to it and runs ok and you dont hear any loud tapping or bad smoke coming from exhaust (in wich case still wouldnt make a engine shake} i have my doubts that it needs replaced and what reason did they give you for it needing to be replaced and ask them why that makes the engine shake i dont think they will have a answer.Good luck and feel free to email me with more info for a more detailed answer and i would love to know the reason they give you for it needing to be replaced.
