This drives me absolutely nuts.
It happens pretty rarely, maybe three times a year.
Yet I haven't had it happen more than six times, it's started only within the past two or three years.
What happens is, at first I begin to feel pressure changes within my ears. If I tense the muscles in my jaw at all, I can hear crackling and wind-like sounds, which I can usually relieve any other time with a yawn or two... but not when this happens. After I go through about 15 minutes of the crackling, out of nowhere my hearing goes out of sync.
Like, how can I explain this...
Imagine hearing one sound, but the sound hits one ear before it hits the other.
I don't hear one sound at the exact same time; I hear it twice... but the difference is only a marginally small fraction of a second.
So every sound I hear becomes... robotic, like a robot's voice from a cartoon.
My own voice sounds the worst, and it's absolutely frustrating.
As for the health of my ears, I hear pretty well, if not highly selectively. I never blare the volume of my music or TV's, and these events don't coincide with loud sounds. Neither do they coincide with ear, nose, or throat infections.
At the times these happen, seemingly nothing provokes them.
And they stay from anywhere between 10 minutes to several hours.
It just started up again about an hour ago, and I'm tired of it.
And no matter what I search, absolutely no result ever matches what I'm experiencing.
What is going on??
