Why does my friend only ever go to Asian (Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Chinese...

...etc) restaurants? Never to any other restaurants? I mean, we live in Australia which obviously is a country of immigration from all over the world. I am white/European and my friend moved here from Taiwan when he was very young.

When I go out to restaurants, I can go to Moroccan (very nice), Indian, Mongolian, French, Italian, Korean (was at a Korean one just last saturday night), restaurants from cultures from all over the world, I don't think one region dominates what restaurants I go to, but by friend only goes to East Asian.

Isn't this a bit anti progressive? If you move to a country like Australia, Canada, New Zealand etc which are all relatively "young" countries of immigration, shouldn't you try to embrace all cultures that live here? Not just your own? That's the whole point of living in these types of countries.

Of course, just what restaurants you go to is a small part of a much bigger picture.
I am not saying that it has to be western food. but just not so much East Asian food.

Plus, if he likes Asian food the best, what's the point of moving to Australia? Australia is a land of all cultures and groups, if you don't want to be part of that then why do you live here?

I am not going to tell him to get out or anything, I am not that extreme, plus he's a really nice guy and all but I just have a problem with his cultural preferences.
Good answer shellster.
