Why does my friend lick lamposts?

This is no joke and I only wnat serious answers. Imagine just a normal teenage boy who loves sports, loves girls and all that that is my friend. But for some reason whenever he sees a lampost he HAS to lick it it scares me...I'm thinking he should go and see a psychiatrist
 
ask him why he loves licking lamposts so much
the probable answer will be - i dunno, i just do.

yeah the best thing would be to ask someone professional about it, because it might be something to do with past habits or something that has happened in his life, beliefs maybe?

basically, ask him, and get help
