why does my ford ka stereo only tune in AM and not FM?

the cd function works perfectly and the connections to the rear of the car stereo all looks ok with no apparent poor connection

medium wave works ok but it will not stop on seek n search or even if i manually tune in to a locally known station

model is factory fitted 6000 cd rds eon in a ford ka 2002 any help appreciated
 
That would suggest no signal is being received and if the aerial is plugged properly into the rear of the head unit then it is likely that the lead from there to the aerial itself is damaged or the aerial mount and or shielding cable is not earthed to the body properly.
