im not even sure about what has happened to them whether gill parasites or something else?
my gold fish floats only at one place with fins closed and is not so active!!

All i know is your fishy is probably going to die soon. If it has impacted his behavior to where he is still and hardly moving, he is suffering badly and is probably too far along to save if he has parasites.

Also if he isn't really sick make sure the water and tank are clean and they have been made chlorine-free with a product like Genesis Fish Protector. You could simply clean the tank and see if that helps but if he has a visible parasite and is doing that badly, the water won't help. You should go to the local pet store (or fish specialist store-even better!) and they can suggest the right medicine for you.

I don't know enough details as a non-expert to tell you exactly what it is but I can tell you how to go about finding out and doing it! I think you only have one fish. How long have you had it. How do you clean his tank and what type of set up do you have for it?

Ian is right as usual. It's usually the simple things like bad water quality, or your filter is broken, or your heater is not working that is causing problems with your tank unless you have recently introduced new fish. All tank contain dormant diseases, and when your water quality gets bad it lowers the immune system of your fish making them more susceptible to these diseases and infections. Check that your ph level is between 6.5-7.5, and that your ammonia and nitrite read 0, and the nitrate is just above 0. Normally bad water conditions are a result of not cleaning the tank often enough, chemicals getting into the tank that your filter doesn't filter out of the water, over crowding, etc. So check these first before adding in un-necessary medications.
