Anyone know why my dog sucks the corner of his blanket and whines? He didn't leave his mom until 8 weeks old. He sounds so pitiful when he does this, do you think he's sad? Sholud I take the blanket away?
He is a 6 year old german shepherd. He gets walked twice a day, fed twice a day, and goes to a couple of obedience classes, and we play plenty of games. So he's not teething, hungry or bored. He has done it since he was a pup. Just wondered if it was similiar to a child who sucks their thumb. Wonder why he hasn't ever grown out ot it.

Aww, how sad! It sounds like he misses his mommy. :( Here's some advice-let him sit on your lap, not the floor. It may make him clingy to you, but it does wonders for you guyses relationship.

Good Luck.

Awe..it sounds like he might have a teething/mouth problem. Maybe he likes to suck on blankets but when he does it hurts something in his mouth? No, I don't think you should take it away. Or maybe it's just his way of asking someone to pay attention to him?
