Ok, we have a dog, she's quite a timid dog that barks at her own shadow, and she loves being snuggled and things on the sofa and we have never seen her attack a small animal she always just wants to play (in fact the ate a spider once and spat it back out
).
She always seems to lick my guinea pig whenever it get her out, she'll sit there and lick for a while get up have a look around and lick her more and keep doing this for ages, I'm always sitting with the guinea pig (just in case the dog does something silly), but I left them alone once for like an hour and they just slept together on the sofa. I'm just wondering if this is any specific behaviour? Our dog is a bitch, i.e. a girl, and we had her neutered very early on so she never had any puppies, and we're thinking she's maybe treating the guinea pig as a puppy she never had? Or is it just simply her being affectionate?
Thanks.
