Why does my dachshund keep whining and how do I stop him?

My 11 week old male dachshund will not stop whining, period. Whether he is in his crate or somewhere alone in the room. If I leave him in the bedroom and go to the bathroom real quick, he will see that I'm gone and he will start whining and barking really loudly. And he won't stop until we come by the crate or he gets tired and fall asleep, which would be 30 minutes later. Every time we leave to eat in the breakfast room or the dining room, we lock him up in his crate for we have another dog that is our first dog, and our first dog might attack the dachshund, so then he will stop whining and barking until we come back. Please help and reply back, he might also want another "mommy" to carry him around and all, but we walk him about 6 times a day and play with him with his toys.

Your dog is far too attached to you. You are babying him way too much. It is going to get to the point where you can't ever leave him home alone because he will tear up the house in frustration.

The first thing to do is make sure you do give him enough attention. He is a puppy after all. You need to play with him and pet him. Whatever. But the second thing you need to do is make sure you don't spoil him.

If you are worried about the first dog, it sounds like you have a bad dog. You should fix the problem with the first dog before worrying about a little whining.
