sounds like the oring blew out . the compressor needs apply refrigerant pressure, in order to change from a gas to a liquid.. it only cost 100 dollars at most auto shops to get a full diagnostics done to your a/c. if its a oring it shoundnt cost much. its illegal to knowingly release refrigerant into the atmosphere, because the chlorine in the refrigerant eats the ozone.
