He is 4 months old and when we hafta gate him into the kitchen he freaks out! and starting whining and yelping like we just kicked him in the face! I dont want me neighbors complaining on me. Whats the most effective way to get him to stop, i dont want to whip him cause i hear that just makes dogs more mean, and he doesnt stop if i yell or sound stern with him
he has a bed in the kitchen, and i have a huge kitchen for his to run and play in, i give him attnention all the time, im not gonna confine myself to my house, sometimes i need to go grocery shopping i mean hello! i love my chi he is the sweetest thing ever i just dont want complaints on me

That's what you get with a chihuahua.
Personally this is my most hated breed of dog.
Of course you wouldn't whip him. Just give him a small
tap on the nose and tell him to shush. Say it sternally
and point your finger at him. Also you can look on the internet or in your area where there is a dog trainer. It may be pricey but it will be worth it in the end.

Chihuahuas tend to get very attached I know this from experience ( I have 2) and they cant seem to spend time alone. This is exactly why I got a second one... which I wouldnt alwayys recommend because they both try to show dominance over ME! lol. The best thing to do since yours is so young is by trying a clock that ticks loudly this is known to put them to sleep. Also try a stuffed animal with them the comfort of a soft animal reminds them of their mothers. And if that doesnt work try leaving a radio on or tv the sound of human voices makes them think someone is there with them. I hope this helps a little. I know exactly what you are going through.

if you have a dog, you are going to have to confine him sometimes. you really just have to ignore him. make sure he has plenty of toys. If he cries and you give in, he's just going to be stuck up your butt forever. Be strong.

they whine and shake alot when they are puppies. he will get over it. my dog whined every night for a week or two at first then he just got over it.

Try getting a shock collar. I know it may sound mean, but it doesn't hurt them. Just use it on the lowest setting. You can even try it on yourself. It doesn't hurt, it feels kinda cold. Hoped this helped!

well don't put him in a crate. find a better way to cage him. definately DON'T whip ure dog. he's still young and going through the puppy stage. maybe keep him in a gate outside while ure not home. or let him run free. not ALL puppies chew up stuff ya know
