Why does my cat hike her butt up when you pet her?

Every time someone pets her and gets to her rear, her butt always hikes up dramatically. She doesn't stick it in your face and her sister doesn't hike it up as much. Why does she do it?
Her sister doesn't really care either way. You'll see the area move a bit, but it doesn't go up so high.

Embarrassing as it is, it's a sexual response. Cats lift their buttocks to present to the male and the base of the spine is a trigger point.

Mine does it too and I just remind myself that she's spayed and it makes her happy.

A cats favorite spots to rub are the "root of the tail", just behind the ears, and under the chin. Don't believe me? Try it! They might also like being rubbed on the belly. It doesn't really mean anything specific. Your cat is just letting you know he/she likes your rubs!

My nine year old grandson says they have hydraulics in the butt. But it is simple. Take a good look at your cat. As flexible as they are they can not get a good itching done over the hips. When they arch up that is an invitation to gently scratch the back areas they have a hard time reaching..

It feels REALLY good to them. What if your favorite part on your body to get rubbed....you react dramatically to that I'm sure ;-) Cats do the same thing - they love pets on the booty

All cats do that. It's perfectly normal. But I don't know why they do that. But every cat I've ever rubbed has done that. I know it's weird, but that's just a cat thing.
