I drive a 1969 Toyota Corona (automatic). If I don't shift into Neutral while stopping at stop signs/red lights, the car stalls when idling in Drive.
Additionally, if I slow down or stop abruptly after driving her in high speeds (50+ mph), she stalls as well (even if in Neutral).
This is only the second car I've ever owned, and the first classic car I've had experience with. I have this grand plan to learn how to fix my car myself, so when answering, let me know if you think it's a repair a novice can handle.
