I have been with my boyfriend now for just over a year and always noticed his hands shake slightly. Whenever i mentioned it, he would just get the huff with me and hide his hands. Last weekend though, he was standing up talking to me and his head was shaking slightly side to side. I asked him if he realised he was doing this and he said no. Ive tried gently asking him questiones but he's now beginning to get angry and says im nagging. He's 29 and his 69 year old mother has the same head shakes quite badly. Any idea's why he's doing this?

There is a condition that causes shaking called "benign familial tremor" which runs in families. My husband and daughter have it. Just their hands are affected, but it can affect the head as well. You can read about it here: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/MEDLINEPLUS/ency/article/000763.htm

My advice is to let it go unless he wants to talk about it. He may not understand why it happens and is embarrassed about it. You might try being subtle... Like printing off the information from the NIH site and leaving it lay where he might be apt to pick it up to read. There are some easy treatments that can help him, but he has to want it for himself first. Since it seems to bother him, he would be smart to see a doctor instead of assuming there's nothing to be done about it.
