why does my boyfriend joke around abusively?

That isn't fun you need to lay down the line. My ex bf used to behave this way and no matter what I said or did he never stopped and it scared me that he would slap me pretty hard on the leg if I ever said something like you did!! Next time he does it treat it though you would a dog! tell him to back off and to stop hitting you because it is disrespectful. If he doesn't stop leave him because no "man" should hit his gf
 
every time i say something mean in a joking way - like ''shut up'' or '' no i don't like this'' he will jokingly say things like ''ill smack you'' or raises his hand at me or hits me with his wallet or something... i know its all fun and i go with the Flow or imitate him but could it mean anything? i never hit him or anything, why does he have to joke like that?
 
If you don't like it say stop but you should be prepared to get as good as you give. Being told to shut up isn't nice, even in a joking way. Then again neither is i'll smack you.
 
It reminds me of the old joke where the patient says, "Doctor, it hurts when I do this," and the doctor says, "Then stop doing that."

It sounds like you're setting the tone by saying "something mean in a joking way". If you don't want him to respond that way, maybe you should stop doing that.
 
if u seriously want him to stop doing that. just tell him that he can't do that with you and that you are not going to tolerate that kind of behavior. yes, joking around is kool, but everybody has their limits. he may do that to his buddies or other friends..but ur his GF! that means RESPECT!

In one of my past relationships, my boyfriend did the same thing. I too "went with the flow" and after awhile, when he really did get mad. . . It was the same thing. Except, he thought that it was okay to hit me. I soon left him because I tried explaining that that was not the right way to play around. I hope everything works out!

Yeah this guy I went out with used to do that but he never hit me hard or anything....he had a sister which is the only thing I could think of, like he might be used to messing with girls like that and that's why he did that.

If you don't like it, don't go with the flow though.
