why does my 97 dodge dakota make nosie in the engine compartment?

its almost like a rattling noise when i get on the gas from a dead stop or anytime for that matter.. i have str8 pipes and its very loud. but the noise its louder than the pipes. its a 3.9 magnum btw
well i should add, it is a 97. i have had it since it was brand new. only has 97,000 miles on it. and i keep up with all the maitnence on it every 3000 miles. hardly every drivin and only i have drivin it
