I just bought a 2000 ford taurus lx with 157,xxx miles, when at a complete stop turning is very difficult like there is no power steering, but it is fine when driving ( fluid is at proper level ) also when driving (mainly at highway speeds) front and back ends feel like they want to go in seperate directions. gets worse when i go over any imperfections in the road, steering wheel jerks a little when this happens.. and feels like im going to loose control. When i bought the car they said all it needed is an alignment, two front tires because they are bald and a new strut on front passenger side.
Does this sound reasonable or is it more than that?
Also should i get new tires and an alignment before taking it to get strut replaced or after ?
Will replacing all this fix the power steering problem also?
