A lot of potential problems given the age of the car. However, double check all wires and cables. Look to make sure all are connected properly and/or that they're not worn. Next look at your spark plugs and note that they're not bad/corroded and that you're indeed getting spark. Couldn't hurt to replace fuel and/or air filters, even dump in a helping of "tune up in a bottle" next time you go to top off the tank. Is the car overheating? You may also need a new thermostat.
