Why does my 1987 Mercury Sable quit running?

I have a 1987 Mercury Sable. It recently had a full tuneup and radiator replaced, but I don't know a lot about the history of the car. Most of the time it runs fine, although it's a bit sluggish when cold for the first minute of operation. Lately, after the car has been driven for about five to 10 miles, the engine suddenly quits working. It doesn't sputter (like it's running out of gas), it just stops. It will always restart anywhere from five minutes to a couple hours later. When trying to restart it, the starter turns everything over fine. I can't tell if the engine isn't getting any gas or if there's not any spark. Any suggestions as to what to look for? Thanks.

is it light blue, did you pay $500 for it? if so sorry man that car was a piece of junk when i sold it.

The ignition module is quite common on Ford products. Most Auto Zones or Advance Auto can test the module for you free of charge.
