Why does my #19 fuse keep blowing out on my 95 Ford Explorer?

I have a 1995 Ford Explorer and just recently been having problems with my #19 fuse blowing out. When it would, I would just put in a new one and it would be fine for a day or 2. It would always happen while I'm driving. I'm driving then all of a sudden my truck shuts off, coming to a slow hault. I would check the fuse (since a friend pointed it out to me) and replace it every time that happened. Well yesterday it happened again, only this time every time I put in a new fuse it would blow right away by my barely turning the ignition key half way. I'm not good with cars so dont know what the problem can be. Thanks for your help in advance.

PS: No I do not have the car manual.
 
Apparently, the #19 fuse is responsible for your ignition coil and your PCM (Powertrain Control Module).

When this blows, I imagine it immediately kills your ignition and doesn't let your engine get any spark.

I hear that the #19 fuse blowing is pretty common with explorers, though I can't find any info on the fix.

I would inspect your ignition coil and the PCM itself if you can, to see if there are any wires shorting out to the chassis of the vehicle.

If this is truly an emergency situation you CAN jump the fuse with a length of heavy duty wire, though by no means is this recommended. The fuse is there to protect you and the car from being destroyed, and I can make no assertions as to what will happen if you try doing this, however, like I said, if there's an -emergency- situation where you are stranded on the side of the road or something, you can put a length of wire across where the fuse goes to make it home.

Other than that I would find a buddy who's good with cars come and take a look at your coil and/or PCM (and pay him with beer), as there is a short-circuit -somewhere- in your wiring ... but we can only speculate where it is without the car right here in front of us.
