Why does Mother in law favor daughters child over ours?

My mother in law favors her daughters kid over our kids. I wad wondering from all the mom's out there if you are closer to your daughters children than your son's children? I have two girls and a boy and I can't imagine favoring my daughters kids over my son's kids when they get older and have kids. And if you do favor your daughters kids over your son's kids, why?
 
My mom favors my kids over my brothers kids. I don't know why really. Maybe because my son is her first grandchild. Maybe it's because I'm the mom and I actually gave birth to my babies, as opposed to my brother, he didn't actually give birth, KWIM? Who knows, I think it's normal though.
 
Typically, the woman's mother comes to help her when she has her babies. I think it bonds the grandparent in a different way to her daughters children although the amount of love felt for all grandchildren is the same.
My mom is closer to my kids than my brothers kids and my mother in law is closer to her daughters child than mine. I know they love the children equally but their comfort level is different.
I wonder how I will be! I have 3 daughters and one son but am very close to my son- we are the most alike out of all my children. It will be interesting to see!
 
That is weird my mother in law only has one daughter able to have kids & 5sons & she loves them all the same
 
i agree that its not fair to the children, but it does happen.
my aunt seems to favor her daughters children more then her sons children.
like someone said, maybe its because the daughters give birth to the children and the sons don't?
