Why does it take a while to open the images on my desktop?

I have windows vista, and up until about a week ago the pictures opened very fast. Now it takes about 5 seconds for it to open. This isn't a problem with internet explorer. Do I have a virus or is it something wrong with my computer? How do I fix it? Thanks:]
 
Have you done any windows vista updates lately? My PC with Vista was REALLY slow last week, but I updated it and it works great now.

Or, what is your CPU usage like? Are there any programs taking up a lot of it? That will slow your computer down.

Have you defragmented your pc in the last 3 weeks? Try doing that. Sometimes that helps.

If you haven't downloaded anything lately, then it's probably not a virus. Run a virus scan with something like AVG or Nortons. See what comes up. If it's all clean, then try the other previous options.
